listen: new mixtape from tv girl

Bummed about the feds shutting down Megaupload?  Going through music withdrawl as it seems to get harder and harder to find illegally download music?

Fear not, because sample-loving retro pop duo TV Girl has you covered.  They’ve just released a new mixtape, entitled The Wild The Innocent The TV Shuffle, and it’s available for free over at their Bandcamp.

The mixtape was released by Greedhead, the label run by Das Racist‘s Himanshu Suri (aka HEEMS). It features a track I posted earlier, “I Wonder Who She’s Kissing Now,” along with 14 other tracks you can already envision finding space on your summer mixtapes.

Oh, and it has an activity book.  Yes, an activity book.  With a maze, a connect-the-dots, and some real sketchy cocktail recipes. If that doesn’t convince you to download, nothing will.

Take a listen to one of my favorites, “It Evaporates,” below.

The album also has a totally nonsensical yet awesome 17-second track telling you to flip the record over.  Also, I’m 80% sure it’s a muppet telling you to do so.  Elmo, perhaps?

Fact to Impress Your Friends With: Singer/guitarist Joel Williams is the younger brother of Natham Williams from Wavves.
