I’m a sucker for well-shot live videos. And covers. And Cults. So this video, featuring Cults doing a cover of Leonard Cohen’s 1988 classic “Everybody Knows,” is pretty much just personal link-bait.
The video is part of a Vimeo series curated by Columbia, celebrating Leonard Cohen’s new record Old Ideas, entitled “Old Ideas With New Friends“. The series features current artists, including Bradford Cox and Cold War Kids, covering their favorite Cohen songs.
Some new music from The Shins has been coming out in preparation for their fourth full-length, Port of Morrow, which will be released March 20th on James Mercer’s new record label Aural Apothecary, as well as on Columbia.
Today, they released a video for “September,” the B-side to the “Simple Songs” 7″ that will be released on February 14. The song itself has a bit of an alt-country vibe, while the video features the song’s lyrics spinning in and around dusty tape players and record needles.
One of the more heavily anticipated releases of 2012 is Grimes‘ Visions, due out on February 21st on 4AD. Grimes is Montreal-based artist Claire Boucher, who has a dream-pop sound combined with an electro beat that grows on you with each spin.
